Deepening the CwG experience

NOTE: The Weekly Bulletin is sent free of charge to anyone who asks for it. It is a publication of the ReCreation Foundation, a non-profit organization undertaking the work of sharing the message of Conversations with God with the world. That message is that the purpose of life is to recreate ourselves anew in the next grandest version of the greatest vision ever we held about Who We Are.

Notes from Neale…

My dear friends…

I’m writing this in London. I leave here today for Findhorn, on the northern tip of Scotland, where we will present the first event of our nearly two-month swing through Europe. I have been sitting up half the night thinking about what I want to say that can fit into only three days at Findhorn and, as I go on, elsewhere.

I have to get the people aroused. I have to get those whose lives have been touched by CwG to do something about it. The job here now is to change the world, not simply decide that we have read a good book. The job here now is to change our lives and change the world.

We can do that. We can begin that work today.

I want to share with you that there is a ton of activity right now on the CwG Blog at Beliefnet.com. If you have not discovered this blogsite, you might find it fun to jump over there before you shut down your computer. You can reach it by simply linking to…

www.cwgblog.com

Or, you can just go to www.beliefnet.com and scroll down the home page there until you find the Conversations with God blog, among others that are posted on this worldwide site.

I write this blog nearly every day, and the discussion has gotten hot and heavy this past week. We’ve been exploring the situations I should say calamities’ that we have faced in America this past week…the terrible devastation created by Hurricane Ike, and the financial crisis produced by the failure of Lehman Brothers, the sell-off of Merrill Lynch, and the 500 point drop in the stock market in one day.

I’ve asked a question about all of this: Is this the Will of God? Or are we, in fact, creating our own reality? This is all part of our Sunday School All Week program over there at Beliefnet, and I invite all of you to drop in there and participate in the explorations.

You will be excited to know that the CwG Blog is the most active blog on the entire Beliefnet site. Last week more than 180 persons posted entries in the Comments Section in a single day. Other blogs are averaging from 15 to 20 comments daily. (The blog entry that generated such a response is reproduced below.)

The Beliefnet stats tell us that over 44,000 people visited the CwG Blog in August alone. And that number is already on pace to increase in September. This blogsite is a very inspiring and invigorating place to be, and I hope you will join us there, daily. Scarcely a day goes by without some sort of refreshing and exhilarating exchange.

As you know, we post one entry from that source every week in this publication. So give it a look. It is like receiving a Weekly Bulletin every day.

And…may I ask…have you read Happier Than God yet? This is truly a wonderful tool box, rendering practical all of the information in the CwG 9-book series. Everyone who has read it has had glowing things to say about it. I am clear now that this book was meant to be written as the first text following the CwG dialogue series. The book contains 17 Steps to being Happier Than God. Very, very powerful stuff.

If your life is not going quite as well as you would like right now, if things are bringing a frown to your face and a burrowed brow, read this book now. You are going to be so glad you did.

And if you have read it, you know already how useful and helpful it is. So please do not keep this to you. Please consider starting a Happier Than God Study Group, and share those 17 steps with others!

And I’ll see you next week.

Neale.

Deepening the experience of Conversations with God by Joanna Gabriel

If you are reading this bulletin you obviously have some experience with the messages of Conversations with God and it’s made a difference in your life, or you wouldn’t be taking the time to focus here.

The messages of CwG came into my life 12 years ago. There was only CwG, Book 1 at the time and when I was into it 50 pages, I felt a light go on in my heart…not so much because the words were offering new information, but because a tightly closed and locked door was suddenly thrust open…the truth of my heart was finally being reflected back to me…what I had always felt was true was being validated in this writing.

Of course, there are endless volumes of spiritual writing that validate the truth of me, but there was something in CwG that spoke directly to my heart in a way that I had not encountered before. Maybe you have had that experience, too…and that’s why you’re here.

Needless to say, that heart-opening experience 12 years ago translated into lots of change in my life and I ended up having the opportunity to work closely with Neale and the ReCreation Foundation for more than 8 years.

In that time, I have met hundreds of people around the world who have had that heart-opening experience as well and as a result, are recreating their lives to allow and empower the most authentic expression of who they are…because they realize that this authentic expression is what inspires a new world.

I left the employ of the Foundation nearly a year ago and my experience of the messages of CwG is now distilled within my relationship with myself and the world. It is as if I have taken what I’ve “re-membered” through CwG and set sail to become and express who I really am and create ways and opportunities for others to “re-member” as well.

And not a moment too soon…for our world seems to be getting more and more interesting! It is as if the consequences for our choices are getting bigger and louder, giving us huge new opportunities to ask ourselves, is this who I am?…is this the world I desire to live and grow in?

It is always tempting to think…well, I didn’t create this mess…”they” did it…this mess was here long before I got here…what can little ole me do to change anything…I have no power…”they” have the power…look at them…I have no part in this.

It’s a commonly held belief and, of course, what we believe, we create, and therefore, we experience more and more powerlessness…it’s being done to us…there’s nothing we can do. I’m on a runaway train and I don’t see a way off, or any way to stop it.

CwG reminds us through 9 volumes that to change anything out there, we have to begin in here…inside of ourselves. If what we believe, (not what we want to believe, or what we should believe), what we actually do believe, creates what we experience, then we have to get to the level of those core beliefs and recreate ourselves anew. It is at the level of be-ing that we transform our do-ing. It is not an either or, but one essentially controls the other. Who I am is reflected in what I do and what I experience.

If our world is off center, or out of balance, or just plain whacky, we can organize a protest march, or start a group to change things…and people have been doing this for generations…and when we look at the trouble and suffering in the world, we see that not much has changed…why is that?

Because the change must occur within first, in order to be reflected in our experience. We have to change in here before anything out there will change…the world is merely a huge mirror of who we believe ourselves to be. Remember, it is the beliefs that are running things. If we believe that we are separate from God and separate from one another, we can not help but have the experience of separation in our world. And looking around, we see that this is a common belief.

There will be those who will say, but I don’t need to change…I’m ok the way I am. Yes, this is true, but if we really believed this in our heart of hearts…if, looking into the mirror, we were completely honest with ourselves and we could see and feel and truly accept that we are ok as we are, our world would be very different than it is, wouldn’t it?

Yes, we are ok as we are…we are perfect as we are…we just don’t really believe it. We want to believe it…there may even be a moment or two when we get close to feeling it….when our hearts open to the truth of us…the truth of you…the truth of me…pure love…pure light.

Oh, those moments…so beautiful…so clear…so true…and usually, so fleeting. Why is that? Well, for me, it’s about “bliss tolerance.” I can only hold the truth of me for seconds because the beliefs I have about “not enoughness,” unworthiness, won’t let the truth of me in for more than an instant. I cannot hold both. I cannot hold the truth of me as God and my sense of unworthiness at the same time…impossible. So those seconds of “enlightenment” are like pin pricks of light in a dark room of limiting beliefs.

The opportunity I have and we all have is to expand on those pin pricks of light…increase the bliss tolerance. Give more focus to the light and less to the darkness of limiting beliefs.

These core beliefs are strong. They have roots on them like the toughest dandelion in the yard…the root seems to go to the center of the Earth! And we have lifetimes of experience to support these core beliefs.

Rather than trying to pull out the roots, it may be easier to find the seed of the truth of me and grow that…water that, fertilize that with my focus and my attention. Encourage those pin pricks of light to become larger and larger. Lessen my focus on the darkness and focus more on the light.

This will require me to make some conscious choices. How am I spending my time? What am I focusing on? What thoughts am I choosing to fill my mind with? We are manifestors of our experience…our thoughts are power tools…they are the water and the fertilizer for our beliefs. What are we choosing to grow…experiences of light, or experiences of darkness? The watering can and the miracle-gro are in our hands…and as conscious beings, we can choose…we’re always choosing anyway…now we can do it consciously, intentionally, recognizing the power we have.

Our experience is not happening to us, it is happening through us.

I find that I can help myself by choosing to spend as much time as I can focused on becoming who I truly am and making room for that authentic expression in my world.

I invite you to look at how you are focusing your attention and what you are watering in your garden of light and dark as well.

If you would like to focus more attention on the messages of CwG as a means to empowering your own authentic presence and expression, I am offering convenient and inexpensive teleclasses through which we will explore who we are in relationship to these principles and how they support our growth, “enlightenment,” and increase our bliss tolerance.

And people with greater bliss tolerance…are going to experience a world with more joy, more peace and more possibility for authentic expression, for their highest benefit and the highest benefit of all.

Blessings!

Joanna Gabriel

Is ‘Ike’ God’s Will?

Friday September 12, 2008

Is Hurricane Ike God’s will? Is the possible devastation of Galveston, Texas God’s will? Who creates our reality, God, or us — or no one in particular…just….Fate….?

If you have come to this blog for the first time today, welcome to Sunday School All Week, an ongoing discussion about God and Life and our place in all of this — your place and mine. We have been discussing here the notion of Creation, and of God’s Will, and of the place within the creative process that human beings occupy.

Are we ourselves ultimately responsible for our lives and all the events in them, as the New Spirituality teaches? Or is everything that happens on the earth and in the universe (as well as in your individual life, of course) the Will of God (and therefore, logically, the creation of God)?

Now before we get further into this exploration today, I would like to take a moment to pray for all the people living in the Gulf of Mexico, and especially in Galveston and Houston, and they seek to, quite literally, “ride out the storm” that has been named Hurricane Ike.

I opened my Internet Browser this morning to find some of the more dire words I have ever heard about weather in the United States.

CNN was reporting that the weather service was speaking today of “a towering wall of water, possibly up to 22 feet high, crashing over the Galveston Bay shoreline as the brunt of Ike comes ashore.”

That wall of water could send floodwaters surging into Houston, more than 20 miles inland, the CNN report said. The CNN report went on…

“All neighborhoods … and possibly entire coastal communities … will be inundated during the peak storm tide. Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single family one- or two-story homes will face certain death.

So before we go one step further, this prayer:

Dear God…Send your help and your strength now to all the people whose lives have been touched by this storm. Help them to find safety, and fold them in your loving arms. Bring each person, Dear God, the outcome and the experience that is their soul’s agenda, and keep them out of harm’s way if that agenda will allow. Help all of us, as well, to understand that we do not know the journey of each individual soul, but that You do, and will always see that this Will is done. Amen.

And now, let us explore some things in these days ahead. FIrst, what is the purpose of prayer? I’ve just said a prayer there. Why? For what purpose? Am I asking an all powerful God to stop something terrible from happening in the lives of some people? If God creates everything, why is this happening to begin with? How does this all work? Is it like this….(?)….God creates something terrible (like Hurricane Ike) and then, if enough of us pray to Him, He “rescinds” the damage that could be done….or reduces it to only a few?

This incident, in our lives right now, raises remarkably important questions, if we believe in a God at all.

(1) Why do things happen the way they happen? (2) Can God change the things that are happening, at Will? (3) If God can perform a ‘miracle’ and change what is happening, why did God bother to make it happen to begin with? (4) What is going on here, on the Earth, and what role, if any, do human beings play in the events that occur in our individual and collective lives?

Are certain things simply “non-causal”? In other words, is it possible that certain things happen that are caused by neither God nor man? Shall we call these things, simply, “fate”? Or is there really a Third Party involved in all of this…the Devil?

Is the Devil creating ‘Ike’…with God doing whatever He can to stop it, or at least reduce its harmful effect?

Is it possible that neither the Devil nor God have anything to do with it? Is it possible that there IS no such thing or being as ‘The Devil’? For that matter, is it possible that there is no such thing or being as ‘God’? Are we just making this whole thing up?

Is it possible that there IS a God, but that WE are responsible — all of us human beings — for what is going on here on the Earth? If so, how far does our responsibility extend? To alal the circumstances of our individual lives? To the events in our community? In our nation? In our entire world?

What about galactic events? Who ‘controls’ them? Who creates them?

How about this scenario….’God’ created the Universe, but now stands apart from it, watching it “do its thing,” whatever that is, and intervening when called upon, but otherwise allowing things run pretty much amok….?

I mean, what is the story here?

Any answers, class?

Deb Reilly believes she has the answers. If I understand her correctly, she believes that we humans are not responsible for our lives…but that we are responsible for how we react and respond to our lives. As she put it in her most recent post…

I didn’t choose my parents.
I didn’t choose my sex.
I didn’t choose the country I was born in.
I didn’t choose my sisters and brothers.
I didn’t choose my childhood.

I chose to listen to God at age 50, and listening saved my life.

Well, boy, do I hear that. I, too, chose to “listen to God” at age 50, and it saved my life also! Wow! Isn’t that wonderful? I mean, that Deb and I had the same experience! Yet it seems that Deb and I heard somewhat different things; received a somewhat different message from The Divine. How is that possible, do you think? Is one of us “right” and the other of us “wrong”? What do you think?

Class member “Arthur” entered a huge and wonderful post — way too long to re-print here — but you may wish to go back to the most previous blog and check out his commentary.

I was most touched, though, by the posting of “LLB”…and this one I have to quote, at least in part, because it moved me so…

LLB was talking about her life, and the many, many challenges she has faced and continues to face. She said, in part…

And right when it looks like things might get a little better–I have to go and need another expensive referral to a doctor again. Oh, right, I’m creating this, I want it! I WANT to have acid reflux so bad I’m in pain 24-7 and a cancer risk, and it’s going to cost thousands of dollars to fix that I don’t have! I want to have surgery again…yeah…yeah…

Oh, my gosh, LLB…I am so saddened when I read this…and I understand your deep frustration and the pain, both physical and emotional, that you experience. I know that it is clear to you that you did not consciously “want” all this, or “choose” it, or “create” it.

Yet your circumstance continues to bring up, and loudly amplify, the questions I am asking here. If you have not, at some level, “created” these outcomes…working on concert with others, including an entire society which does not care enough to take care of all of its own members…then who has? Who has created this? God?

LLB goes on…

I’m talking about teetering on the edge here, getting older every day, and knowing there’s health problems that HAVE to be taken care of that are going to send you into bankruptcy. I’m talking about not knowing how the heck you can have a needed operation anyway, when you cannot possibly afford to be out of work for any recuperation time.

I’m talking about wondering where we’re going to be when we’re too old and sick to work. Where is the money going to come from to keep us in this house with food, lights, and heat? Social security ain’t gonna cut it, and may not even be there anymore. What’s going to happen when I’m 80 and never earned the money to pay off all this debt??

I hear you again, my friend. I hear you. And we need, all of us, to create some kind of community response to these kinds of needs, which are being faced by thousands and thousands of us. It is within the Human Family that we will and can solve these problems. Yet we have created a national and global society which says, in effect, “every man to himself.” This is called, within some political circles, “personal responsibility.” But you and your husband, LLB, have TAKEN responsibility for your lives,,,and STILL no relieve, STILL no respite, STILL no help when you need it most.

Wait! Wait! I HAVE it! More tax relief for the rich! Yes, that’s it! What’s the matter with me?! Of course, extend the Bush tax cuts, which allows that 5 percent of the population that already has millions to have even more! Yes, yes, that’s it! Yea, yea, John McCain! Boo, and double boo on Barack Obama. He wants to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. What is the world is the matter with him? Typical Democrat! Tax and spend! Tax and spend! And spend on WHAT! Social programs to help the poor? Geez, what is this guy thinking???

Ah, yes, LLB…I hear you. And here is what you must know: No one is suggesting that you created all by yourself the challenges that you face. My book Happier Than God explains this all very clearly. I mean, this process that causes such suffering and pain in our world. It is the result of Collective Consciousness, LLB. Not YOUR consciousness, but the consciousness of the Whole of Humanity, of the Whole of This Nation, of your neighbors and friends and all of us who create together this sometimes experience of a “hell hole” that we call Life On Earth.

We are going to take an action on Nov. 4 — election day — that will do a great deal to affect our Collective Reality, my friend, and I ama deeply hoping that our decision in this Fall’s presidential election will reflect our higher-evolving Collective Consciousness, and not the consciousness of the past.

i absolutely LOVE what Jay Leno had to say about this the other night…

“It’s a very strange political campaign. Out on the campaign trail, John McCain and Sarah Palin are talking about how they stood up to the Republican Party, they fought the Republican establishment, and they battled Republicans. Their message: vote Republican.”

But enough about politics. I know that most of you feel that God and Politics do not mix, should not mix, and that it is somehow “wrong” to mention one in the space of the other. But I am here to tell you all that unless we marry our highest thoughts (read that: our thoughts about God and Life and How We Are Going to Be With Each Other) with our politics, we are spiritually bankrupt. We say one thing but do another.

I hear you, LLB, when you tell me…

We do not live in some big, fancy place. We’ve slashed our lives to the bare bone, we drive beat-up old cars.

You know, a little bit, just a little bit of worldly success could fix this. It really could. OK, so I’m a shit, I have a horrible attitude, I just don’t want to change, and my fate is all my fault, and you can yell at me all you want to, but my husband is a good person who has the best outlook and more faith than I could ever have in ten million years, and look where he’s at. Maybe I don’t deserve better, but this person really, really does.

You know, just this summer things could have turned around and gotten dramatically better. We’ve worked and worked and worked and worked for it for years. So many years I had hope, I visualized, I believed, it kept me going. And instead, things got worse.

Where is God, anyway? Hello??

That is the Question of Our Time, LLB. That is the Question of Our Time.

Class? Any answers?
